A BETTER PLACE

Please read 2 Peter
3:11-13 with me – “Since
everything will be destroyed in this way,
what kind of people ought you to be? You
ought to live holy and Godly lives as you
look forward to the day of God and speed its
coming. That day will bring about the
destruction of the heavens by fire, and the
elements will melt in the heat.”
As we look at the
world, things seem to be coming to a head.
On the evening news we hear about
terrorists, earthquakes and plagues, and
wonder, “what does it all mean?” I will
grant you that there are some ominous signs,
but does that mean that we should run to our
books and charts on prophecy? A better place
to run would be to God Himself! For whatever
else these verses reveal, they teach us to
seek God, for seeking Him is the only way
that we can live in holiness and Godliness.
You might be saying,
”that sounds good, but how do I do it.” Just
as you would spend time with a friend, spend
time with God in prayer. As you ask Him for
direction, be quiet and listen for His quiet
answer. Also spend time in His Word, for His
Word and Voice will always agree. Second,
just as you would value your time with that
same friend, learn to treasure your time
with God.
God longs for
relationship and not for duty. He alone can
give you the love and acceptance you strive
for.
Third, ask Him to
change you into His image. Just as a son or
daughter values the approval of their
earthly Father, learn to value the approval
of your heavenly Father. This approval will
give you new confidence and strength, and
peace and joy will fill your life in a new
and better way.
Remember Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ Jesus who
strengthens me."
